Arbitration Centre Not Accountable

Arbitration Centre run by private trust may not be accountable

International Arbitration Centre in Goa, India is already facing resistance by local activists who insist that it will not be accountable to the public if run as a private trust. Various local government officials set up the center and it will compete with various institutions that are established under Indian law.

Although activist Aires Rodrigues is concerned that the new center will not be accountable to the public, an institution that is not subject to government requirements may offer parties security who fear that the government has too strong a hand in the arbitral decisions.
