Courses to Produce Effective Mediators for Community

The National Unity and Integration Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department is increasing the number of courses offered on mediation. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, says that mediator are the soldiers of peace necessary to resolve community problems.

A mediation program was instituted in 2009 and there are now 299 mediators operating throughout the island. Koh continues, “It is important to generate more mediators to enhance the effectiveness of solving the people’s problem or other matter related to the neighbourhood. They have the responsibility to work together with the police in the prevention of crimes.”
