Ban Ki-moon Applauds Mediation Efforts

Ban Commends Independent Mediation Centre for Efforts in Conflict Resolution

Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon applauded the Geneva-based Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue which is an independent mediation organization. He thanked them for their efforts in trying to resolve conflicts peacefully. He encouraged the centre to partner with the United Nations and for other countries to adopt similar approaches.

Emphasizing that preventive diplomacy was one of his key focuses as Secretary General, he said, “Your work has led to peace and saved countless lives – starting with your first project, between the Government of Indonesia and the Free Aceh Movement. You understand that and you are working to help countries find a new, inclusive path to stability.”
