The NBA Player’s Association and the NBA had another eight hour mediation session yesterday after a sixteen hour long mediation session on Tuesday. Despite twenty-four hours at the mediation table, there has yet to be a deal. Today talks will resume. The fate of the Christmas Day games hinges on the success of these talks.
Last week, David Stern the NBA Commissioner said, “If we don’t make it on Tuesday (through mediation), my gut—this is not in my official capacity of canceling games—but my gut is that we won’t be playing on Christmas Day.” Christmas Day games are an NBA staple and they provide a large chunk of revenue with more than 7 million people watching the game.
