Jordan Miles Civil, Criminal Cases Go On

Civil Mediation Put on Hold by Pending Criminal Case

Police accountability groups have recently taken on the case of a young juvenile who was allegedly chased and beaten by police officers for carrying what the police thought to be a gun (it turned out to be a Mountain Dew bottle). As the criminal probe continues, settlement of the civil lawsuit is disrupted.

Mediation has failed because the case cannot be settled with pending grand jury investigation. Litigation will continue as well as ongoing discovery. The young man (now in college), his family, and the community must wait for police accountability.
