Mediation is often a helpful process in divorce saving the parties money and providing a third party neutral, who often become the voice of reason in a highly emotional situation. However, divorcing spouses often do not realize just how difficult it will be to split one combined budget into two—especially in this economy.

A mediator may be skilled in the art of mediation, but the financial complexities and legal caveats of divorce make for a tricky settlement agreement.
