At least nine parties head to mediation on the eve of their municipal court trial over Port of Houston’s violation of noise ordinance. A group of neighbors bought sound monitors to record the criminally high levels coming from the Port of Houston (unloading and loading containers).

Although the Port has proposed easement options for nearby residences with monetary payments to “sound proof” their homes, many community members are refusing to be bought off. Instead, they are fighting for what once was the beautiful wildlife in their back door. Despite various settlement opportunities, litigating these cases in court may be the only remedy to keep the Port quiet!
