Women Mediators May Bring Unique Perspective to Peace Process

Although women have successfully become mediators around the world, the United Nations has never appointed a woman as a chief mediator. While many peace negotiations fail, this article suggest that women may be able to help address the underlying issues that eventually cause the breakdown in peace negotiations.

The absence of women in the mediation process may be doing more harm than we think! Although it is important for a mediator to be respected (and one could argue that in some countries this would not be the case), a complete lack of women as UN chief mediators is pretty shocking!
