The ministry of justice in the UK has recently cut funding in legal aid for the family court system and mandated that all divorcing couples attend a mediation awareness session. In response, Manches law firm has created a network of firms that are willing to share clients.
One law firm gives legal advice to a couple while another firm will serve as a mediator, thereby preventing possible conflicts of interest. With a nationwide movement to keep divorces outside of court, this network will make “lawyers less lawyerly and happy to send clients to each other in an informal way.”
