Libya Rebels Reject Peace Proposal

Rebel’s Needs Remain Unaddressed

The rebel leadership in Libya rejected the cease-fire proposal drafted by the delegation of African leaders which was supported by Moammar Gadhafi. The rebels insist that any deal “include the ouster of the Libyan leader and his sons from power.”

It is not too surprising that the proposal does not address the Rebel’s stated needs. “The proposal was drawn up with Col. Gadhafi’s backing by African leaders indebted to him for his years of largesse to their small impoverished nations.” How can a mediated-proposal fairly address both sides when the African Union leaders drafting it are clearly biased?
