As many as 70 NFL players described as a “breakaway group” are unhappy that the talks broke down in March and they now want a voice at the mediation table. As a result, the players are considering hiring a lawyer to intervene in mediation.
This break in the ranks happened earlier than anyone would have imagined and is surely a “troubling and surprising sign for the NFLPA.” Time will tell the impact that this new faction will have on the mediation process.
