Judge Will Weigh in on NFL Dispute

After the hearing on April 5 in St. Paul Minnesota, U.S. District Court Judge Susan Nelson now holds the fate of the NFL labor dispute. Ten plaintiffs led by Tom Brady are seeking a preliminary injunction to stop the lockout imposed by the league on March 12. The NFL is relying on the 1932 Norris-LaGuardia Act which prevents courts from issuing injunctions to end strikes or lockouts.
While a decision could take two to three weeks, the judge can also order the parties back to mediation. Even with a decision, it is likely that either side would appeal, prolonging the lockout until the appeal is settled.
