Mediation of Libya Dispute is Frustrating

Turkey Pursues its Libya Mediation Efforts Despite Setbacks

Turkey has invested a lot of time to find a political solution to the military confrontation between Colonel Muammar Qaddafi and the opposition in Libya. Although Turkey is “soldiering on with mediation attempts to end the conflict in the north African state,” the process is frustrating with the lack of progress.

The inflexibility of both parties is frustrating the process as one camp says “Qaddafi should go” and the other saying “Qaddafi must stay.” While Turkey attempts to bring both sides to the table and to find common ground, the mediation talks have been thwarted by the stubbornness of the two warring sides which deeply distrust each other.
