The Cleveland Browns were awarded the NFL franchise domain name “Browns.com” in the World Intellectual Property Forum Panel arbitration.
The owner of the domain name used the page as a parked domain name with pay-per-click links to football sites, but when the team reached out to the owner of the domain name, the name of the owner in the database suddenly changed. Shortly thereafter, the Browns filed a complaint with WIPO but the respondent from Italy did not respond despite multiple attempts to communicate by the Cleveland Browns and the WIPO.
