Russia's Intervention

Russian Envoy Heads for Tripoli for Mediation

Russian Mikhail Margeloy is set to arrive in Tripoli on Thursday to meet with Libyan government officials including Libyan Prime Minister Baghdadi Mahmoudi and Foreign Minister Abdelati al-Obeidi.

Margelov is willing to meet with Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, but he had not yet received such instruction from Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. To resolve the continued conflict in Libya, Russia is capable of acting as a mediator together with the United Nations and the African Union.
