Tweak of Foreclosure Mediation Law Carries 8-Month Stay

Although mediation laws have been enacted, homeowners are still struggling to hold on to their property. With new proposals to the legislation, state lawmakers hope the changes will make the foreclosure mediation program more successful.

Senator Bob Duff who helped enact the original mediation effort in 2008 said, “A lot of people were able to work things out within three months. However, there were some very difficult cases out there and those took longer to work out. So this will help the really difficult cases.”
