An NGO called the Venezuelan Prisons Observatory who monitors the prison conditions in Venezuela suggests that the government should negotiate with the inmates who are leading an armed jail revolt. Negotiations are a better alternative to using violence to end the week-old uprising in the El Rodeo II prison.
Member of the NGO, Humberto Prado, says that a conflict-resolution specialist should be brought in to end the revolt. While two soldiers and one inmate have died, at least twenty have been injured from the sporadic gun battles that the military have launched at the prison since June 17. Alternate dispute resolution may help resolve the dispute in a less deadly manner.
