WADA Challenges 5 Mexico Players Over Contaminated Meat Claim in Clenbuterol Doping Case

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is challenging the earlier decision by the Mexico Football Federation which cleared five players of doping by accepting their claim that the positive test for clenbuterol (a banned anabolic agent) was a result of eating contaminated meat.
The five players missed the tournament but were not punished. WADA’s appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport for the five Mexican players is accompanied by its challenge of the 2010 Tour de France winner Alberto Contador who also blamed his positive test for clenbuterol on contaminated meat.
