Retired NFL Players Could Still Pursue Other Avenues

When the lockout first began, the NFLPA allowed the retired NFL players who were accusing the player’s union and the NFL of illegally negotiating the collective bargaining agreement to join the antitrust lawsuit against the league. Now, the retired players have dismissed the lawsuit against the NFL since the lockout has ended.
Hall of Famer Carl Eller was active in the beginning of the lawsuit particularly during the mediation; however, the retired players were phased out when the negotiations began to heat-up. When the NFL reached a deal with the players union, the retired players refused to drop the case. In early August, the Judge told the retired players that their case was difficult and would be like “pushing a rock up a hill.”
