Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu revealed plans to host a mediation center in Istanbul. This was just one of many creative proposals discussed. The Mediation for Peace initiative is a joint initiative by Finland and Turkey which was launched just a year ago. It works on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Davutoğlu states that “the initiate is open to everybody who would like to make a contribution.” The General Assembly unanimously approved the peace mediation resolution in an effort to encourage consensus resolution in the international community and foster mutual understanding.
