Starting on January 6th, three mediators will sit down with Alpha [mining company] officials and the plaintiffs in 18 wrongful death lawsuits stemming from the Upper Big Branch mine disaster. In April 2010, twenty-nine coal miners were killed in a massive explosion that quickly became international news.
