Burdening the Process

UNAMID Chief is a Burden on Darfur Crisis – JEM Rebels

The leader of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) accused the head of the hybrid peacekeeping mission in Darfur (UNAMID) Ibrahim Gambari of violating the mandate UN largest operation, creating further distance between the parties. Gambari was criticized for attending the wedding of a militia leader accused of war crimes. Instead of being a catalyst for change, Gambari has become part of the ongoing crisis.
