China Assigns New Envoy on Syria

China has assigned Assistant Foreign Minister Zhang Ming to discuss the Syrian crisis with Saudi Arabia and Egypt from March 10 to 14, and then with France from March 14 to 16, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin told reporters in a news briefing on Friday. China has strongly opposed any foreign intervention in Syria and believes the Syrian crisis should be resolved through peaceful dialogue.
