Bank Watchdog to be Mandatory for Securities

Mediator Intervenes in Bankruptcy

Ottawa’s messy battle with the country’s banks continues as the parties attempt to resolve the dispute through the Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments. Watchdogs and self-regulating bodies will “reject the multi-platform system expected to be advocated by the federal government that would allow banks, investment dealers and mutual-fund companies to hire their own mediators to sort out disputes with aggrieved clients.”
