Attempts to broker a compromise have failed so Fiji will lose its hosting rights to June’s Oceania Nations Cup football tournament. Rajesh Patel, the President of the Fiji Football Association, says they attempted to mediate between the regime and Oceania Football failed: “The decision finally rested with Tai Nicholas and them. They felt that they have to make the right move and there’s something that they would not be able to accept conditions that were put in so that is the reason they’re moving ahead with taking the Nations Cup away.”
