A strike that could have hit Norwegian oil contractors was averted over the weekend after eleventh-hour arbitration talks resulted in the settlement of a wage dispute. The talks involving state negotiators came up with a wage and benefits increase for workers after extending more than 12 hours past a deadline of midnight on Saturday set by the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (Fellesforbundet).
