Mediation starts in Nortel Bankruptcy

Parties attempt to distribute Nortel Network’s $9 Billion Assets in Mediation

On Tuesday, mediation proceedings began to distribute Nortel Network’s assets. Because there are creditor claims from Canada, the US, and around the world, the situation is extremely complicated. Chief Justice Warren Winkler warned the lawyers that a lengthy litigation would deplete a large portion of funds presently available to creditors and “The alternative to a mediated outcome is a lengthy litigation process.”
