The International Criminal Court convicted former Liberian President Charles Taylor for aiding and abetting war crimes. This is the first head of state to have been convicted for human rights violations. As the ICC continues to fight for global justice at an international level, the court must operate with caution; the initial indictment of individuals such as Taylor and Bashir caused additional conflict initially and in many ways thwarted the peacemaking process.
