Maoists: Mediation Talks A “Farce”

In a grim turn to a three-week old hostage crisis, Maoist rebels in India today issued a fresh ultimatum and threatened to execute an abducted Italian if their demands were not met within 96 hours. Rebels have been holding 54-year-old Paolo Bosusco hostage since March 14 and rejected recent mediation efforts as a “farce.”
