Mediation Used to Deal with Police Misconduct

More Disciplinary Charges Sustained Against Chicago Officers

The number of disciplinary charges sustained a cops is on the arise in part due to the increase in the number of cases being resolved in mediation. Ilana Rosenzweig, chief administrator of the Independent Police Review Authority notes that the agency began utilizing mediation more often to resolve allegations of police misconduct. Rosenzweig said, “It’s an opportunity for an officer to accept responsibility, to change behavior and in return, have a lower level of discipline.”
