Government Mediation Needed in Lady Gaga Affair

Sociologist Encourages Mediation to Ease Multicultural Tensions in Society

The government in Indonesia did not allow Lady Gaga to perform in the country by refusing to issue a permit for the planned concert. The government could have reached a happy medium by allowing her to perform but limiting “certain clothes.” Sociologist from University of Indonesia says that this compromise “would not be an attack on Lady Gaga’s freedom of artistic expression” but instead “a way for the singer to show her respect for Indonesia’s culture.”
