NFL to Start Hiring Possible Replacement Refs

NFL and NFL Referees Association Can’t Reach a Deal

The league and the officials have yet to reach a deal after two mediation session and the nine bargaining negotiations that have occurred since October, 2011. Although the parties were hopeful that they would reach a collective bargaining decision, all optimism has vanished. Despite the need to hire new officials most likely from a pool of retired referees, league spokesperson said, “Our goal is to maintain the highest quality of officiating for our teams, players, and fans, including proper enforcement of the playing rules and efficient management of our games.”
