Bin Hammam Wins Appeal, Lifetime Ban Lifted

Court of Arbitration for Sport Lifts Ban

Mohamed bin Hammam was given a lifetime ban by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association. However, he appealed and on Thursday July 19, the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled in his favor. The three judge panel made a 2-1 ruling finding “insufficient direct evidence linking bin Hammam to money in Trinidad and Tobago delivered to Caribbean soccer officials at a May 10, 2011, meeting.”
