Sudan, South Sudan Mediations Stalled

Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Ahmed Karti admitted that little progress had been made in current talks with South Sudan, while African Union mediators rejected a demand by Sudanese rebels to include issues not related to those border territories in dispute. The deadline set by the African Union peace plan, and an accompanying UN resolution, ended on August 2nd as the countries failed to sign any agreement.
