Google Deal with France could have Wider Implications

Google is to Pay into a Publishers’ Fund

Negotiations after two months in mediation resulted in Google paying 60 million Euros into a publishers’ fund to help French media develop an internet presence. However, Google avoided a licensing fee. As for the second part of the deal, there is potentially a significant future partnership: Google must commit itself to developing partnerships with French publishers “to help increase their online revenues using our advertising technology.”
