Police Association Calls for More Education, Standardized Discipline

Firing ‘almost a certainty’ if police officer lies, says Edmonton Police Chief

The Police Act calls for education, remediation, mediation and alternative dispute resolution rather than an automatic public disciplinary hearing. “Lying is extremely serious and dismissal from the police service is almost a certainty when it involves a Professional Standards Branch investigation or court proceedings. All of us need to be professional, do our best, and above all, tell the truth.”
