State Hopes Mediation Can Ease Court Overload

Mediation may just be the answer the overloaded court dockets of Alabama. Governor Robert Bentley announced that Friday would be Mediation Day and the Alabama Bar Association declared Sunday through Saturday to be Mediation Week. With the lagging economy and cutbacks and layoffs, the court system is struggling. Mediation may help!

Uncomplicated cases can be moved out of the court system which will help alleviate the court dockets in these economically tough times. Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Tracy McCooey emphasizes the benefits (besides economic) of mediation which include helping parties reach a satisfactory settlement, “It resolves things a lot quicker. Mediation is a wonderful thing as often as you can use it.”
