Charlie Sheen: What Tuesday’s L.A. Court Battle Means

As part of the “Charlie Sheen legal circus,” parties will be battling it out in the Santa Monica courtroom on Tuesday to determine whether the arbitration clause stands. Warner Bros. initiated arbitration proceedings earlier this month, and in response Sheen’s attorney filed a $100 million lawsuit for wrongful termination.

Although there is an airtight arbitration clause in the contract, strategically it makes a lot of sense for Sheen’s attorney to push for the dispute to be heard in open court as opposed to private arbitration. Juries favor actors (even crazy ones) and Warner Bros. is more likely to settle outside of court with the threat of sensitive financial documents being released in court.
