Africa Union Intervenes in Conflict in Mali and Sahel Region

Newly-elected commission chairperson Nkosozana Dlamini-Zuma says that the African Union is doing everything it can to help resolve the conflict in Mali and the Sahel Region. She notes, “We must not forget that these pockets of conflict not only cause untold suffering, death and destruction, but also impede the social, political, and economic development of the rest of the continent.”
