Columbian Coal Employee Strike Continues More than Two Weeks

Union leaders and company executives deal with violence as they prepare for talks to end the walkout which is mostly over wage increases and health-care plans. Each day, the company loses millions of dollars as 100,000 metric tons of coal goes unproduced. “Under Colombian law, if no deal is reached within 60 days the dispute will go to an arbitration panel whose decision is final.”
