International ADR and Corporate Governance Reception at the Institute of Directors

Last week CEDR hosted an event at the Institute of Directors on Pall Mall in London to celebrate the launch of CEDR’s Corporate Governance training course with the International Finance Corporation, a division of the World Bank. CEDR has developed a training course over two years with the IFC for handling Corporate Governance disputes and delivered training last week to eighteen IFC representatives from twelve countries who will be able to deliver this course worldwide. Also present were members of the CPR Institute of New York, with whom CEDR has partnered for CPR’s 21st Century ADR Pledge, providing a chance to catch up with those who had signed the pledge, including the Royal Institute for Chartered Surveyors.

The evening brought together two different groups of people: a group of IFC representatives from around the world came directly after an exciting day of training, and members of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution arrived from New York. The evening was highlighted by a set of speeches from members of both groups. This included hearing from Alexey Volynets on the IFC’s work to improve standards of corporate governance globally, from James South about the course undertaken by the IFC members on managing conflict and difficult conversations, and from Noah Hanft, the CEO of CPR, on corporate governance and the CPR pledge. Other speakers included Olivier Andre of CPR, Maurice Kuitems of Fluor Enterprises Ltd, Sam Blayer of RICS, and Richard Hill of Shell.
