The ongoing dispute between the North and South Sudan continues. However, on Sunday, President Omar Al Bashire announced a deadline to resolve the outstanding contentious issues which include oil and border issues. Bashir said, “We have agreed to have committees and have given them deadlines to reach a solution on all the pending issues.”

Perhaps the deadline will help the parties work towards resolution. The Presidents of both countries stood together at the Sunday press conference reaffirming their desire to work together towards peace and stability after years of conflict. South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir said, “My government is ready to discuss any final solutions on all outstanding issues, being on the economy, security, borders and Abyei’s status. My brother Al Bashir and I myself are committed to ensure that none of these issues will take us back to war.”
