14,976 Cases Handled through Mediation in First Ten Months

Earlier this year, a surgeon in Beijing was seriously injured when a patient stabbed him out of rage and anger over a medical dispute. The patient contended that the surgeon had committed malpractice during the operation. A third party mediation system was established as the latest reform to ease tension between doctors and patients before violence occurs.
