NFL Players Association and Owners “Need to Talk”
March 21, 2011
Perhaps the solution to the labor dispute “isn’t that far away.” The NFL Players Association and the owners are so close that “it’s almost criminal that the owners and the players are spending more time talking about legal filings than free-agent signings.” In earlier negotiations, the owners were at $20 billion while the NFL Players Association was at roughly $20.3 billion over the next four years.
Despite the seemingly close offers, the parties have not talked about the difference and that is the problem! With pending litigation, the lawyers and the legal system will merely prevent further communication and negotiations.
