Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) meets Tuesday to attempt to restore peace in the neighboring Yemen. This is the first meeting since the Yemeni president, Ali Abdullah Saleh, was airlifted to Riyadh for treatment on June 3. This GCC meeting will also discuss other regional developments.
Spokesperson for the GCC General Secretarian Ahmed Al-Kaabi said, “the ministerial session comes at a critical time, when several countries in the region are witnessing political uprisings.” As the GCC attempts to help facilitate the transfer of power in Yemen, the EU and the US continue to back GCC efforts.
