Hunt ADR today became accredited by the Civil Mediation Council (CMC) to provide civil and commercial mediation and CPD courses. Training will be provided in association with Clerksroom.

The move is seen as ambitious in the already crowded marketplace for mediator training but Gregory Hunt, who has spent the last 23 years in senior roles at The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, CEDR and Ombudsman Services before founding Hunt ADR in April 2016 said “I have a passion for training, it’s about looking at what is needed, meeting that standard and then working out how we make it better. We are delighted to be providing this training and CPD in association with Clerksroom.”

The full course will include pragmatic steps to help delegates towards being a practising mediator, with a carefully blended programme of theory and role playing to develop and apply all the relevant skills needed to be a successful mediator. CPD will be open to all with the additional development of the “CPD Club”, which provides member mediators with a variety of events tailored to achieve CMC CPD points to allow them to continue to practice under the CMC banner.

Stephen Ward, Managing Director at Clerksroom said “When we were approached by Hunt ADR, we needed to know what was really different, what was the benefit to those training. The result was a fresh approach to mediation training with a focus on the entire journey of the person looking to train, from enquiry to establishing a mediation practice if that is the purpose of the training. We were excited by the approach taken by Hunt ADR and the potential outcomes for trainees.”

Trainees graduating from the 5-day programme will be able to access the Clerksroom Mediation Observer Programme at a discounted rate available exclusively via Hunt ADR, and will be eligible to apply to join the Clerksroom Mediator Panel.
